Concussion recovery.

What comes to mind when you hear that? A few days spent in bed in a dark room? Maybe a week of feeling less-than-great, as though you had a hangover that just wouldn’t go away? I genuinely hope that has been your experience, but…

…this blog is for the rest of us.

This blog is for those of us who don’t feel better after a week or two. We, the unlucky, who have lost track of how many rehab sessions we have had in the last month. From the ones who had that one nasty knock that changed everything to those who lost track of their concussion count a few knocks ago – this is for you.

This blog is for those around us who don’t understand why it’s not “just a concussion”, but who love us enough to try to understand. From the friends who don’t understand why we haven’t been around…to the superheroes in our lives who drive us to appointments, make us meals, invite us over and don’t get offended when we end up taking a nap on their couch – this is for them.

I am neither an expert nor a medical professional. I’m just a normal person…with an abnormal concussion count. I am simply the girl with the glass brain, who does her best to keep bouncing back, one bump at a time – and this is for me.

“Maybe it’s not always about trying to fix something that is broken.
Maybe it’s about starting over and creating something better.”
